Fitness enthusiast and reviewer from London

The Short Version

I am James Carter, based in London, and for several years I've chronicled my experiences at fitness clubs throughout United Kingdom.

This site came about after growing weary of picking gyms by ads and vague suggestions, only to find the reality fell short. I wanted precise, candid details about what these places were really like. When that wasn't available, I chose to build it.

How This Started

My training routine started at a modest gym near Heritage Street, Canary Wharf in London. It wasn't flawless, yet it was accessible and affordable, and it helped me stay consistent.

After that place shut, I watched the fitness scene in United Kingdom evolve rapidly. New clubs emerged, new concepts appeared, and marketing grew louder than the actual member experience.

I began trying various gyms and classes, jotting notes after each visit. Over time those notes became this site, created to help others make better-informed choices.

My Approach to Reviews

Each review here comes from actual visits and time spent inside the facility. I focus on practical details that matter when you are choosing a membership.

When I review a fitness center, I typically:

  • Invest enough time to grasp routines, peak times, and patterns
  • Visit on various days and times
  • Try multiple training formats and instructors
  • Use the facilities regularly to assess cleanliness and comfort
  • Talk with other members about what stays consistent and what doesn't
  • Take notes right after each visit

I update reviews when major changes occur: renovations, management shifts, pricing adjustments, or new facilities. Each article shows its last update date so you know how current the information is.

What I Look For

My priorities might differ from yours, so here is what matters most to me when evaluating a fitness center:

Comfort and Privacy: Does the space feel genuinely well-designed for members, with respectful boundaries and a calm atmosphere?

Equipment Quality: Are machines well-maintained? Is there enough variety? Do things get fixed promptly?

Crowd Management: Can you actually train during your preferred time without waiting constantly?

Clean Facilities: Locker rooms, showers, floors, and equipment surfaces. Cleanliness shows how seriously management treats the member experience.

Honest Membership Practices: Clear pricing, clear rules, and no unpleasant surprises.

Beyond the Gym

Beyond training and writing, I reside and work in London. This project is here to make fitness choices easier and more transparent for people looking for the right environment.
